The place is locally owned by a woman, and everyone was nice. I went on an early morning riverboat safari and spotted an Agami Heron along with lots of other birds. There are plenty of activities too, including ruins and kayaking. This was my second visit, and I had a great time again. Can't say enough good things about it. -Dan Bilderback, Anchorage Alaska

The rooms are decent, though they could be better, and the remote jungle setting means you get what you pay for. We came with four birdwatching friends, and the staff were really friendly and even put an extra mattress in our room. From the docks there are lovely views, with loads of birds, nature, and all sorts of frogs. They serve a buffet at 6:30, which was nice, though it costs extra and isn't part of the room price. The staff speak Spanish and English, so asking questions and communicating was easy. If you're keen on birdwatching and don't need luxury, it's a place to spend a couple of days. Worth visiting at least once while traveling in Belize.

The bird viewing tour after lunch was stunning, and our guide knew a lot and was very accommodating. I also had one of the best homemade meals I've eaten in Belize. It's a beautiful location and an absolute hidden gem. I'd definitely come back.

We really enjoyed our two nights at the lodge. It feels quite remote, and there were lots of birds around. The staff were friendly, and the food was good. I especially liked the fried chicken and fish. A great experience!
