Caribbean Shores Bed & Breakfast

Our room had a strong musty odor, and the lack of cleaning and general neglect around the property made it hard to settle in. We picked Caribbean Shores BnB for the price and its location in Hopkins, but the stay was disappointing. Hopkins itself is amazing, though the BnB didn't match its online photos or our expectations. It needs a lot of upkeep, so I'd look elsewhere until improvements are made.

The staff were great, and having the somewhat rickety bicycles helped with the location. The walls were so thin that the neighbors woke us at 5am. We also weren't warned about the planned power outage on March 16. For eight hours there was no aircon, fan, or water.

We had the pool to enjoy each day, and the ocean was just a short walk through another resort. With so few guests around, it felt like we had the place to ourselves. The staff were incredibly kind and patient, especially Georgia and the young man in the office whose name I can't remember. Georgia made a different breakfast each morning with plenty of fresh fruit, left lovely flowers in our room, and helped us find the bus stop on our last day. We stayed at Caribbean Shores for four nights in a resort area a little removed from central Hopkins. The beaches nearby were much nicer, but getting to town meant about a 30-minute walk along a dirt road. There were six bikes available, though a few needed maintenance and didn't work fully. The 10-minute ride into town gave us more freedom to explore. Some stretches of the road were dark despite some lighting, so we wore headlamps for visibility.

Breakfast came with a good range and plenty of food and drinks, and the walk-in rain-style shower was lovely. The hotel sits at the edge of Hopkins village, near the beachfront and plenty of good dinner spots. The Italian place next door is fantastic!
