D's Inn

Nandina, the manager, was friendly and kept in touch well. The place used to be a fried chicken restaurant, so the bill still says that, which confused us, but she cleared it up. We also went to the wrong place at first because there are two different D's in San Ignacio: D's Guesthouse and Apartments on Burns and D's Inn on West Street next to the gym. The manager at the first place pointed us in the right direction. It's a nice, inexpensive place to sleep while you're out exploring, rather than somewhere to look for luxury. Our room had the private bathroom we booked, and was basically a bed and bathroom, as advertised. It was clean, the AC worked pretty well, and the shower was hot. There's a shared cooking space we didn't use, but it looked decent.

The hostess welcomed us so warmly that we felt part of the family almost as soon as we arrived. She chatted with us like we'd known each other for years, shared plenty of activity ideas, and suggested an affordable taxi driver. There was laundry service at a great price, and the place had drinking water available. The kitchen was well stocked, with a big fridge, plenty of plates, pans, pots, and cutlery. Our room was just as clean as it looked in the photos. This was our favorite Airbnb during our month and a half traveling around Central America. I was genuinely sad to leave. You don't meet people that kind every day, and if I come back to Belize, I'll return to San Ignacio and stay here again. I love it! 🥰

The owner was incredibly helpful and communicated really well. For a budget traveler, this is a great no-frills stay: basic amenities, but what you need. The location is hard to beat, the AC was cold, and the hot water was nice.

We were disappointed after looking forward to staying here. The house itself is really nice, with a well-equipped kitchen and cheap laundry, and the wifi is very good. The shared social area wasn't great, though: there's a TV but no remote. The private room and bathroom were very small and simple, as you'd expect for what you pay. The rooms feel dated and have hardly any furniture for luggage. The bathroom looked dirty because it was so dated. We found two cockroaches in the sink drawer, which put us off. When we told the owners, they said the cleaners would take care of it. It's about a 10-minute walk to central San Ignacio, which is manageable. There's no soundproofing, so when it rains, you'll hear it; the gym next door plays music until 8 p.m. and can be noisy.
