Don Santiago Guesthouse Downtown

The host was really friendly, and the room was spotless and comfortable. The kitchen was clean and well equipped, with free drinking water, and the hot shower was a nice surprise. We stayed five nights and didn't hear street noise at all or anything from the other rooms. Not sure what the other reviews are complaining about.

It was lovely sitting out on the deck in the evenings. From this guest house, it was a quick walk to food, the market, the river, and the main San Ignacio sights. A perfect place to stay here. Highly recommend it.

Hugo is the man. He was attentive and quick to respond to every question and request, and the other guests were really cool and laid-back. My room was fine and good value. Laundry is available for 10 BZD/load, which is very reasonable. This place is a jewel.

The biggest drawback was the AC. It blew cool air, but the fan had so little power that it couldn't cool the room properly. A big standing fan helped move air around, but with it 102f outside, we really wanted the room to feel comfortable. On the plus side, the noise from the place and surrounding area was low. A friend and I came to town for a few days of exploring and chose this place for the good reviews and fair price. The location was excellent, under five minutes from much of downtown. The room was what you'd expect from a hostel-style place and was perfectly acceptable: two modestly comfortable beds, a functional bathroom, and a shared kitchen that did the job. You get good value for the price, and I'd consider staying again, though I'd also look at similar options.
