The Watermark Hotel

We were here with my adult children during Thanksgiving week. The rooftop restaurant and bar was the saving grace. The staff there were nice, attentive, and accommodating. But our stay had too many problems. At check-in, they asked me to pay extra even though I’d already paid in full. They promised a refund, but I eventually had to dispute the charge with my credit card company. Our door was hard to close and lock, and maintenance came three times to deal with it. We were put in a corner room on the first stay floor, facing the top of the building behind us and trash from buildings in between. The AC couldn’t be adjusted, so the room was freezing, and we couldn’t leave the door cracked because of mosquitoes. The hotel is newly built, but the golf cart ride to restaurants and excursions is an extremely bumpy 15-20 minutes. I contacted them four times before our stay for help booking an excursion and never got a reply. I wouldn’t stay again, and wish I’d picked somewhere older and closer to town.

The team at The Watermark really made my daughter’s birthday trip spectacular. I booked through Priceline and ran into an issue, but they fixed it and took care of everything I needed. It’s convenient to get around from here, with a store right next door, about 25 minutes to secret beach, 10 minutes to the TruckStop, and 11 minutes to the airport or water taxi. Thanks to everyone for making the stay so wonderful. I’ll definitely come back.

The food was great, and there’s a sweet little gift shop. Patricia, Nancy, and the two young men working at the upstairs bar were welcoming and easy to talk to. The staff overall were wonderful and helpful. Our kids were comfortable and had a great time at the Watermark, and we’d absolutely stay again when we return.

The room had a glass entry door, and the hall light shone into the bedroom all night, keeping us awake. Maybe dimming it or putting a curtain over the door would help. The Watermark was nice and clean, with friendly staff, and they decorated the room for my birthday. It’s not far from town, there’s plenty of golf cart parking, and the food from the trucks outside was really good. I only tried the rooftop restaurant once, and it was just okay. I’d try to avoid a street-facing room because of the noise all night. That bright hall light is why I probably wouldn’t stay here again.
