Coast Abbotsford Hotel & Suites

We found the rooms clean, quiet, and comfortable, and all the staff were friendly. The location was just right for why we were there. The gym worked well for our short stay, and breakfast was fine.

We had to leave our home and find other lodging for an extended stretch, and after a few nights at the awful Sandman on Gladwin, we moved to the Coast. It was so much better. The rooms, linens, and cleanliness were all far superior. There was a reservation mistake that meant we had to move to a smaller room, but the staff tried their best to make things work. Janice from housekeeping deserves a special mention for going out of her way to be kind and friendly. It was a difficult time, and she made it a little better.

I emailed about a group booking five days before calling and heard nothing. When I called, I was first told the person who handled group bookings wouldn't be in until 3 PM, so I should call back. In the afternoon, the person on the phone said group booking inquiries had to go through email and that no one could speak with me. When I explained I'd already emailed, he said that meant they'd declined the request, even though I hadn't given dates and had only asked them to contact me to discuss it. I said I'd been told earlier I could speak to the group booking agent, but he insisted I couldn't talk to anyone. He wouldn't let me speak to the duty manager either, then hung up on me. Terrible service.

For a hotel at this price, I expected more from breakfast. It was sugary bakery items, hard-boiled eggs, and premade mini waffles. There wasn't even scrambled egg, an omelette, or a waffle machine. Best Western has a similar sort of hotel with much more filling breakfast choices.
