Motel La Maison de Travers

The room was mostly clean, and the bathroom was very clean. There were some crusty white marks on the bedspread that we tried to ignore. Still, this doesn't feel like a three-star place to me, more like two stars. The only thing that kept it from one was the Wi-Fi. The room was tiny, the mattresses uncomfortable, and there were no extra pillows, coffee, or ice. The bath towels were so thin and small we thought they were hand towels. There was no conditioner or lotion, just a tiny single-use shampoo pouch and a sliver of soap. The thermostat was locked away, which was frustrating since the room felt hot and stuffy and we couldn't adjust it. The walk from the parking lot is short, but you can't park right by your door as you would in a traditional model. The location wasn't great either. There were two restaurants nearby, Chez Sam, which we didn't like much, and another that didn't look appealing from outside. Reviews mentioning several restaurants up the road in Baie st Catherine may be from before covid, since we saw several closed or defunct places.

A very quiet spot with a clean room and a comfortable bed. It's five minutes from the baleines pier and ten minutes from the boat crossing to tadussac.

The outside of the hotel isn't fancy, but the rooms have been recently renovated nicely and were clean. The beds were comfortable, and there was a small fridge. We stayed one night over the 2020 Labor Day weekend. The front desk person spoke English reasonably well. I'd recommend it and stay again.

The owners were nice, and the room looked good, felt comfortable, and was very clean. I'd stay again. My only complaint is the fridge. I usually switch off a hotel fridge when I don't need it to get rid of the noise, but this one had a freezer, so I "wasn't allowed" to turn it off in case anything thawed.
