Pinewood Inn

Room 20 was much bigger than the quite small rooms here, and 21 is also larger. We stayed in 20 for five days. Clean rooms and a reasonable price.

The stay had been wonderful until we found what we believed were bedbugs in the beds. We told the office, but they said we must have brought them with us because they supposedly check for bedbugs every day. They looked at the bugs and said they weren’t bedbugs. I’ve never seen bed bugs more obviously bed bugs. They wouldn’t take any responsibility, and now we have to heat-treat bags of clothes and somehow treat the inside of our car too.

The room seemed okay, then we woke up with bedbugs crawling in the sheets. We caught a few to show the owners, who first insisted they weren’t bedbugs. When we said we knew what they looked like, they changed their story and said we’d brought them. No apology, either. We left right away and took our clothes and bags to the hot dryers at the laundrymat in town. Definitely not coming back!

We spent three nights exploring the area and wished we could’ve stayed longer. The owners were attentive and helpful, and their expert guide skills of the area came free with the room, much appreciated. The rooms were clean, with a backyard view of the lake, and we appreciated being able to use the barbecue instead of having to eat out every time. Great location in Barry's bay, a short walk to the beach and playground, and very family friendly.
