Cosmopolitan Hotel

We had booked two nights, but left after the first. The room was dirty, the bedding smelled of soap, and plastic bags over the windows flapped all night. Most of the building felt like rental suites or low-income housing.

The beds were fairly comfortable, and I'm glad there was air conditioning, but I wouldn't stay here again or recommend it. The rooms were small and smelled strange, and the shower head was grimy, with hair sticking out and barely any pressure. The refrigerator wasn't plugged in, there was no coffee maker, and the TV had no power cord. Staff said the TVs weren't working at the moment. The hotel felt run-down and sketchy as soon as we arrived, and it took a while to find anyone to talk to. When I needed toilet paper, nobody was around, so luckily I had some in my truck. There are no phones in the rooms to call the front desk either.

By the time we arrived after 9:30 pm, the room was still unbearably hot at 32 C (90 F). We'd called to reserve at 2 pm, so I thought there would have been time to cool it somewhat by closing the blinds, opening the windows, or opening the hall door. There'd apparently been a mix-up about which room we'd use, but it was still miserable. After showering, we got it down to 29 (84 F) and barely managed to sleep. Even the bed and pillows stayed very hot. I think every room needs a ceiling fan. They did give us a fan when I asked, but the experience was very unpleasant.

The rooms are quaint, clean, and have the amenities you need. Ours was spacious and had a great view, with a downtown location close to events. The hostess running the front desk, tavern, and hotpot was incredibly welcoming. Some of the best customer service I've had anywhere.
