Jake & Jo's Cottages

We used to enjoy bringing our family dog to Jake and Joe's, where the cottages were friendly and reasonably priced. The new owners have made the business pet-free, which is a real disappointment. Most families travel with their pets. Not impressed.

The owner’s wife was really friendly, and the area was mostly quiet, but I wouldn’t rent one of these cottages again. We spent far more than it was worth. A fresh coat of paint and some finishing work would go a long way. We were a family of four staying in August 2019. The photos gave a misleading impression. The kitchen and small living area were kept up, but the bedroom and bathroom weren’t. There was no seal around the tub. On day one we found a worm in it, which I thought might have come in with the linens. The next morning, a wild mushroom was growing from the floor beside the tub. It was disgusting. The linens were old and didn’t feel clean, so thankfully we’d brought our own. Dead bugs were scattered across the ceiling, walls, and floor. A basic room cleaning should have dealt with them, and it left me feeling like little or no cleaning had been done.

The owners were helpful and friendly, and our two-bedroom cottage was clean. We spent six nights here on a PEI trip from Ontario and had no complaints. Jake &Jo’s is a handy base for getting around the island. The WIFI and TV were a bit unreliable, but we were on vacation and didn’t mind. I’d recommend it.

The kitchen was so well stocked that we made breakfast there every morning, and the water pressure was amazing. Our family spent five days and four nights at Jake & Jo's, and the stay was absolutely great. The cottage was cozy, clean, and roomy enough for everyone to have their own space. We also got $200 in " Canada'd food Island" gift cards, which was a surprise. We hadn’t thought much about them before arriving, but used every one and enjoyed the food. Staff were terrific too. Check-in and check-out were easy, and everyone we talked to was really pleasant.
