Best Western Plus Walkerton Hotel & Conference Centre

We had a terrible stay. The first room hadn’t been cleaned: the sheets were unchanged, there were blood stains on the bed, and it smelled strongly of cologne. It was obvious someone had slept there. With roads closed by the storm, we had nowhere else to go, so we asked to move. Only one staff member was working, and she used that as an excuse for not doing her job. The second room was in the same condition, if anything worse. There was pubic hair and bugs, including bug guts, on the bed, hair on the bathroom towels, and fecal matter in the toilet. The staff member became agitated and insisted the rooms had been cleaned, even as we pointed out what was in front of us. She told us they couldn’t keep changing rooms, and refused to move us again. I called down after she left and said her reaction was rude and that the way she spoke to my elderly father was unacceptable. She said they’d normally move us, but that wasn’t going to happen. Maybe another floor, away from the same housekeeper’s section, could have worked. I thought management would be full of apologies after this, but we got an email instead of a returned call. It wasn’t even addressed to me correctly. The email denied any wrongdoing, and I felt we were treated like nuisances and liars. This felt racially charged and discriminatory. We were forced to sleep in those conditions and received no remorse or refund. I’m furious, and I’ll tell everyone I know what happened. I didn’t think Best Western would tolerate discrimination like this. We got no compensation for the sleepless night, and the response was completely untruthful. This was degrading and disgusting.
