Overlander Mountain Lodge

At breakfast we ordered 4 drinks and 4 meals before several other groups, but the tables around us were served first. Every drink was wrong, and after nearly 50 minutes without food or a proper update from staff, we gave up and left hungry. I have diabetes!! The stay had already been stressful. On Saturday we were first put in Cabin 18, which had no hot water or air conditioning. After complaining, we were moved to an old, creepy vacation home, then moved yet again to a unit that was finally acceptable. Switching accommodations over and over was frustrating and inconvenient. The whole experience felt disorganized and far below expectations. With the accommodation problems and terrible restaurant service, we feel a refund or some other compensation is absolutely deserved.

The restaurant staff were lovely, and the food was delicious in both presentation and taste. At reception, the gentleman was courteous and friendly, and shared useful local knowledge, including how to use bear spray safely. They had bear spray on hand. The rooms are clean and comfortable, with a little rustic charm and class that feels like a time gone by. Everything about our stay felt unique and enjoyable. A must for everyone to try.

The view is incredible, the staff are friendly, and the location is convenient. The on-site restaurant is great for breakfast and dinner. I'd recommend checking out the nearby brewery too.

At $300 a night, I'd expect hot water, but I woke up to none at all. When I went to check out, the girl at the desk basically said, “Sorry, I'll let maintenance know.” Nothing was offered. The resort doesn't seem professionally run or maintained. Drive up for the awesome views and some food, then leave and stay at another hotel.
