The hardest part was how the hotel handled our follow-up. After my partner and I developed scabies, we reviewed where we had slept before and after and could only narrow it down to our November stay here. We had been at home otherwise. We emailed the hotel. Since my partner made the booking, they called him and said they would investigate by contacting previous guests to ask whether anyone else had scabies symptoms or anything related. We heard nothing for just over a month, so I followed up by email. They called him the next day and said they had found no evidence. When we asked what they had checked, they said they had only asked the cleaners and cleaning company whether they had “seen” scabies. They hadn’t contacted any previous guests, despite saying they would. Scabies isn’t visible on bedding, so that investigation felt pointless. I’ve had to miss work because of how severe it’s been, and both our bodies are physically marked from the scabbing. I’m very disappointed. We weren’t necessarily expecting anything in return, but scabies is a serious and easily spread disease. I wish the hotel had kept its word and checked whether previous guests were experiencing it too.

For CAD300 a night, I expected better facilities and friendlier service. Some staff seemed like they couldn’t care less, though the housekeeping ladies were an exception. The room itself was spacious, but the AC was so loud I needed earplugs to sleep. On the second day, the shower started dripping and splashed water across the floor. I was too tired to deal with it, so I just kept the curtain closed. The breakfast was especially disappointing for Bonvoy members. You choose one of only two dishes, not from the full menu, and the options were the worst I’ve ever seen. The bathroom also had a shower curtain, and there were no bathrobes. That was on the 14th floor, so I can’t imagine what the lower floors are like. Who decided this was a four-star hotel?

We held a seminar here. The meeting rooms felt open, with high ceilings and large windows, and parking was free.

The staff were a highlight. Everyone from the front desk and housekeeping to the casino dealers was incredibly friendly, and I had a fun, relaxing visit. The location is convenient, and I enjoyed Atlas again from our room. The room was clean and well kept, though a little dated. The mattress is on the soft side, and I really liked the feather pillow.

Free parking was the main reason I picked this hotel, and the service was really great. There’s a good restaurant in the building, plus Starbucks coffee, so it’s easy to get what you need during your stay.
