Our room wasn’t terrible, and the bed was comfortable, but I wouldn’t choose this place again for a long trip. The hotel is being renovated, so the drywall smell was noticeable. On one day, the water was shut off for about four hours because of the work. We got an hour’s warning, but being unable to use the pool or bathroom was still rough. The hot tub worked twice, then went out of order. The front desk first said it should be back in two days, but when we checked again after that, they had no answer. It stayed closed for the rest of our two-week stay. When we arrived, the living room light was out and the bedroom light flickered. Lovely staff fixed them pretty quickly, though it set the tone for the stay. Our keycards also deactivated three times, even though we kept them away from phones and credit cards. One note about breakfast: it’s a buffet on weekends. On weekdays you order a hot meal from staff, with only four choices. If none appeal, you can get a few tiny bowls of cereal or small pieces of fruit.

The room and washroom stayed very clean even during the Christmas vacation, and breakfast was amazing, better than we expected. We spent two nights here and had a wonderful holiday. The parking kept our vehicle out of the snow and the car warm. The kids enjoyed the pool and hot tub, and so did we. Thanks for making our stay so pleasant. You deserve five stars. Highly recommend, and we’ll be back soon ❤️

We ended up staying here for nine nights after booking another place that wasn’t very good for our ten-night Canada trip. Switching was the best decision. Our last-minute stay was handled with lots of flexibility, reception were always friendly and helpful, and housekeeping, which we opted into daily, were lovely and checked if we needed anything. The breakfast staff were just as friendly. We had no issues at all, and room 224 was quiet, with no traffic or train noise during our stay. We’d researched the location and wouldn’t blame staff for train noise if there had been any. Please do your research before booking. The team did a fantastic job, even when other hotel guests treated them badly. This is definitely one of the friendliest hotels we’ve stayed in. We can’t wait to return next year!

The rate was fair, and we didn’t mind that the pools were closed. The staff were nice and the location was great, though the rooms looked a bit worn. We had a pet-friendly room by the end stairwell. People heading to the town centre over the rail crossing kept passing by, and the stairwell door often slammed. In the morning it felt like someone was coming into our room.

Brutal night. The hotel is dingy and badly needs renovations. The hot tub was closed, the beds were so uncomfortable, and the heating unit was loud. You could hear everything in the hall, and there was no hot water. They offered no compensation.
