The only drawback was how clearly we could hear people next door and upstairs, which makes sense in an old building. Guests across the hall had no neighbours and said their room was very quiet. We stayed in the Lucy Maud Montgomery suite, which was roomy enough to relax in. The bathroom was spacious and had a makeup mirror and sitting area, and there was coffee and tea in the room. Randy was a super host, very friendly, and gave us a great tour of the property. He’s also an amazing chef. Breakfast was wonderful, and the afternoon treats were lovely. Coffee, tea, and water were available in the main room, along with a nice shared sitting area.

The one thing that gave me pause was the rate, nearly 380 CAD a night. PEI is expensive in high season, though, and two amazing breakfasts would be at least 30 dollars each plus tax and tip elsewhere, so the stay works out closer to 300 CAD a night. That’s still a lot, but it could be a treat you don’t regret. We were there for two nights in August 2025. The house and room were nicely decorated, and the room was comfortable with everything we needed and more. It’s on a quiet street, yet only about a five minute walk from Queen Street. Breakfast was different each morning, chosen the day before, and the best I’ve ever had at a B&B. I picked eggs one day and pancakes or vegetables were options too. There was also bread, local ham and honey, muffins, juice, tea, and coffee, with impeccable service. The host was extremely nice and passionate about explaining the house. Homemade cookies and other sweets were always available, along with tea, coffee, and water. There’s a common area to use as well.

Randy, the owner and skilled chef, made our stay at Charlotte Rose Inn one I’d happily repeat. We visited in May and stayed in the Lucy Maude Montgomery Suite. The inn was even more beautiful and elegant than we expected. Randy welcomed us into his home and showed us a living room and dining room that looked straight out of an architecture magazine. The women looking after the guests and rooms were pleasant, accommodating, and attentive. For such lovely accommodations, the price was very reasonable. Breakfast was a real treat, with new choices every day. Along with yogurt, fresh fruit, nuts, scones, honey, blueberry jam, and more, the main dishes felt like something from an exclusive restaurant. At my last breakfast I chose a smoked salmon omelet with asparagus, sausage, and cherry tomatoes. There was also a cheese board with meats and croissants.

The Inn was beautiful, and the hosts made us feel very welcome. We stayed a few days and loved it. They also gave us useful tips on where to eat and what to see. I’d definitely return next time I’m in town.

This felt like staying in someone’s comfortable, lived-in home. It was a great base for driving around PEI, and I could walk to downtown shops, Victoria Park, and Confederation Trail. The little extras, like guides, a washer and dryer, yoga mats, and games, made it feel much better than a generic hotel.
