Rodd Charlottetown

The restaurant deserves five stars. We ate there one night and had delicious food in generous portions, so we couldn’t manage dessert. The service was attentive, friendly, and very professional. I think our server was named Alfredo. The hotel has a pleasant small-town feel, and its location was ideal for exploring Charlottetown and this part of the island. Our front desk experience was much less consistent. There was confusion about laundry pricing after the external provider changed its rates. One helpful staff member looked into it and fixed things, but then a supervisor tried to overcharge us at checkout without mentioning the cost beforehand. It took some back and forth to resolve. We’d requested a room without an adjoining door, but that request was ignored and we got another room with one. The twin double room itself was a decent size, though the beds were relatively small. Complimentary water and a box of local chocolates were a nice touch. We’d read about the hotel and specifically asked for it as part of our honeymoon itinerary. Five stars for the restaurant, considerably less for the front desk staff.

The dining room is nicely decorated, and I enjoyed a good lunch, but the table setting let it down. The table looked like something from a diner, with no placemats or tablecloth and no side plate for our rolls. For an upmarket hotel, they should spend a little money laying the tables in a more sophisticated way.

The old hotel is beautiful, and the beds were super comfortable. I enjoyed the warm pool, and the sauna heated up quickly. Charlottetown is perfect for expiring from this location. I stayed six nights, and it was an absolute delight at the Rodd Charlottetown.

The water views were beautiful, and the atmosphere made it easy to relax after exploring the area. From the moment I arrived, the staff were welcoming and friendly. My room was clean, comfortable, and well maintained. I had a wonderful stay at the Rodd Hotel and would definitely come back!
