Motel Chelsea

The rooms have loads of character, and I loved this place on an earlier visit enough to recommend it to friends. But our recent stay was frustrating. I raised a booking issue at check-in, and the front desk attendant said he needed to speak with the owner, Una?, and that I could talk to her later that evening. When I returned a few hours later, I was told she was busy and couldn't meet with me. They had live music and the place was filling up, so I figured we'd sort it out the next day since we were there for two nights. The next morning, Una wasn't due for another hour. We were heading out, but had dinner reservations at the property, so I tried again then. The hostess said Una was in the back office and would come to our table. We sat there for 90 minutes and she never showed up. On our last morning, a different guest agent knew nothing about the issue, even though this is a very small establishment. Una wasn't in, but the attendant said she'd arrive before checkout. After breakfast, she still wasn't there. The staff member had spoken with her by phone but hadn't discussed our situation, and Una wouldn't be back before we left. I was assured she'd follow up that day. Three days later, I've heard nothing. I'd happily give the place five stars for its charm, but the customer service was extremely disappointing. It's a unique gem if nothing goes wrong. If an issue does come up, be prepared to be ignored.
