TownePlace Suites by Marriott Chilliwack

The pool, jacuzzi, and patio area were beautiful, and it’d be fun to swim and then have a BBQ at the patio tables on a summer day. There’s a shower booth by the pool, but I was cold outside, so I changed in the washroom instead. The gym was clean and nice, with new treadmills, bikes, and other equipment. Breakfast was included and great, with waffles, muffins, fruit, omelettes, yogurt, and bacon. The staff were friendly and helpful. My brother suggested this hotel for a family staycation. The price was lower than the Victoria Marriott Inner Harbour, and since the hotel is quite new, it felt like a great choice. Our bedroom was clean and tidy. It had a shower stall but no bathtub, so no need to pack a bath bomb or bath melts. Some rooms have a kitchen, microwave, and cooking tools. We could smell someone cooking fish in their room. Our outside view was of the highway, which was okay, and Timmy is just a minute’s walk away. We had a great stay. The cable TV had connection trouble, so we could only watch YouTube.

A big shoutout to Monica in the breakfast area. She was so kind and helpful with our kids, getting them breakfast and drinks, that I’d have thought she owned the place. Whatever she’s paid, it isn’t enough. Breakfast itself was good for a hotel, and even with all our kids it was easy. The front desk was professional, accommodating, and easy to deal with. Our room was spotless, even the shower glass had no smudges, and since it’s a new hotel everything was in perfect condition. By far the number one hotel in Chilliwack for us. It’ll be our go-to when we visit family.

My only issue was the location. When I visit friends and family in Chilliwack, I prefer staying somewhere more central, which is why The Coast was initially my first choice. But I won’t stay there again. I loved my time here. The price was great and lower than other hotels around. They had a king suite available for an incredibly good rate, substantially less than The Coast charged for just a double room. The staff were welcoming, friendly, and nice, unlike the rude and unprofessional staff I dealt with at the other hotel mentioned above. I was sad to see the Best Western I grew up around was gone.

Two days after I checked out, my credit card was charged without my consent or authorization for alleged damage. The first email made the claim without documentary or photographic evidence, and said that all efforts had been made to remove the damage. I asked for before and after photos, but they only sent before photos, and those didn’t match the list of allegedly damaged items. I requested more information and proof, including after photos, but they haven’t replied to my email. I’m a Bonvoy Silver Elite member and have stayed at many different Mariott properties. This was by far the worst experience I’ve had. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.
