Studio 1 Motel

Over six days, my room was never cleaned and the towels weren’t replaced. I had to ask for toilet paper on day four, hoping they might clean it the next day, but they didn’t. The Roku TV worked for the first two days, then got reset and left me with only a black screen and no TV access. When I asked, Turek said they only had basic channels, which didn’t match what I was seeing. His accent was hard for me to understand, so I didn’t push the conversation further. There also weren’t any inside locks on the doors, so I wedged a chair in front of mine as an alarm. On day five, I woke up and the chair had been moved. Someone with a key card must have opened the room while I was asleep. I’ve stayed in motels for work for 15 years and never experienced that. I won’t be back, so Turek can cancel my reservation.

We booked one night at Studio One Motel in Coburg, with a 2 PM check-in, but an emergency meant we arrived exhausted at 11 PM. The office was closed and there was no staff around. We called the posted number five times without an answer, then reached an older woman at a second number who was rude and unprofessional. She told us to keep calling the owner, which we’d already done. The emergency instructions said to knock on Room 104; we knocked repeatedly and got no response. I was close to filing a legal complaint. Eventually the owner answered and said there were no rooms available, even though I had proof of our confirmed booking. He then found a solution and sent us to another motel a few minutes away. We were too tired to argue by then. It was the most stressful, disrespectful, and unprofessional motel experience I’ve had. This ruined our night, and I’ll never return. Avoid this place.

There were blood stains on the bed, cockroaches, and bed bugs during our night here. The owner also kept our deposit for nothing. Be careful, and I’d stay somewhere else.

I haven't arrived at the motel yet. I accidentally booked the wrong arrival date, and since I didn’t pay for the cancellation and date-change insurance, I’m being charged for a day I won’t use. Three weeks before the date, and only a couple of days after booking, I tried to change it through Expedia customer service but got nowhere. I’ve also called the motel several times without an answer. It feels like theft.
