Motel aux Ecluses

It’s very basic lodging above a gas station dep, but it met our needs. There’s a bike path right across the road.

The view was nice.

It was a good stay.

We booked for the Canada Day period and arrived on the evening of the 30th. The tap water was yellow, and the room’s only window wouldn’t open, which felt like a safety risk. There was no shower gel either. In the bathroom ceiling, the light fixture had been removed, leaving a gaping hole with electrical wires exposed. When we came back the next evening, the bedding and towels hadn’t been changed, and no cleaning had been done. I went downstairs to complain to the convenience store clerk, who was also the receptionist, about getting fresh bedding and towels. He told me, “The sheets aren’t that dirty!” I was stunned and asked for the motel manager’s contact information. He gave it to me, but she was strangely unreachable, so I spent the evening leaving messages. I’m going to ask my next-door neighbor whether his place was left uncleaned too. If an establishment doesn’t clean the bedding or change the towels, I’m not sure I’d call it a motel. There’s another term I’m hesitant to use here. Judge for yourselves from the photos I attached...
