We weren’t told when booking that the hotel was being renovated, and the rooms were only okay. In the morning there was a lot of condensation around the window, with actual water on the frame. The kids liked the pool, but my youngest son had a lot of cuts on his stomach after going down the slide. The spa also wasn’t very warm and didn’t work very well. Breakfast was missing items on several mornings, including food and fresh coffee, and there was no fruit available. The first day, the bananas were green. The rest of the food was okay and the staff were friendly, but I still wouldn’t recommend this hotel.

We ended up finding another hotel at the last minute. They wanted $268 a night for a place in this condition, with no discount offered. The breakfast area was unavailable, so we were directed to benches by the pool to eat. With plenty of other hotels nearby, I wouldn’t stay here. The main floor was a major construction site, far beyond the minor renovations mentioned on the website. Wires hung down, walls were missing, plastic sheeting was everywhere, and the ground floor had no flooring, just dirty concrete. Dust, mud, and dirt were tracked around. The elevators and hallways were battered and in poor shape, and the whole place seemed run down. It was filthy and felt unsafe. Not advertising the scale of the work, or adjusting prices for the state of the hotel, felt really deceptive. They shouldn’t have guests there at all.

The family suite was spacious and a great price, and we had a fun weekend. The pool area was enjoyable, breakfast was tasty, and there were snacks and a movie night for guests. The service really made the stay. Guest services, housekeeping, and maintenance all went above and beyond to make things wonderful. I’ve stayed at several Hamptons over the past few years, and this location has had the best service by far. Thanks to the Hampton staff!

The pool and hot tub were a nice extra when kids weren’t overrunning them. Breakfast was okay for a buffet, though a little more variety would’ve been good. The chocolate and regular waffles were always tasty. My wife and I spent 8 nights here on vacation in Nova Scotia, using the hotel as a base for day trips in a rental car. We found it clean and friendly, and the staff were helpful. A few things seemed odd: there was no room safe, luggage rack, or alarm clock.

We love this hotel and will definitely be back. Everyone was friendly and polite, and they went out of their way to give great hospitality. The front desk staff always greeted us with smiles when we came in and took time to chat. We had the best service here at the Hampton.
