We’d return. The rooms had been recently redone and looked really nice, and we enjoyed the tasty pizzas at the 1964 Restaurant. There’s a nice wine list too. We were there in winter, so didn’t use the outdoor areas, but they looked lovely. There are also several banquet and private spaces to choose from for meetings or a private meal.

We were there for two nights over New Year’s, and even though I’m picky about hotels, I came away with no real complaints. The pool could’ve been a little warmer, though. The rooms were nicely done and had everything we needed: comfortable beds, good pillows, a heated bathroom floor, a fireplace, and a little deck. They’re on the small side, but that was fine for a hotel room. We ate in both the bar and the upstairs restaurant, and the food was great, with lots of gluten-free choices. There was complimentary coffee in the lobby all day, plus games for the kids in the lobby and bar. The staff were five-star from check-in through check-out. Even the owner was around and insisted on filling my ice bucket himself. What a great stay. We’ll definitely be back.

Falcon Ridge was great for snowboarding, and afterward we soaked in the hot tub looking out over the lake. The scenery was beautiful and everything around us felt peaceful. We had a wonderful stay at HFL Wilderness Lodge. The accommodations were lovely and worked easily for our big family group, grandkids included. With seven separate sleeping areas, each family had its own space, and the large dining table let us all sit together for meals. Thanks to the staff, who were so helpful and keen to make our stay the best it could be.

We stayed from January 29th 2026 until February 1st with friends, and loved the rooms. They were beautiful, with sliding doors, and all had gas fireplaces. You could pull your vehicle right up to your room to unload, which was handy. Jalen & Doug at the front desk welcomed us and showed us to our rooms. When our TV gave us trouble, someone knocked at the door before I’d even put the phone down. The service was excellent. The lounge food was so good, and there’s also a restaurant upstairs. I can’t say enough about how great this place was. I recommend it, you won’t be disappointed.

We arrived November 29th with my wife and three kids. Check-in got off to a bad start: one desk worker was on the phone while another woman chatted with hotel workers. We waited ten minutes before she even acknowledged us. They initially refused to match the online rate, despite that being their policy, then eventually agreed to it. Our room was only cleanish. The door was missing its strike plate, and the bathroom sliding door had no handle or strike plate and wouldn’t stay shut, so it was useless. The pool room and water were both cold. Upstairs, a patio window was broken and the door was frozen open about an inch, with ice all over it. The outdoor sauna was meant to be open in November but wasn’t. The slide, sauna, and steam room were open and decent. Dinner at the Bear Den was awful. We waited fifteen minutes for anyone to acknowledge us, then an hour and a half for the food. Nobody apologized or asked us to be patient, and for over an hour and fifteen minutes no one even came by to refill our water. Sounds like similar things have happened to other guests recently. We love Falcon Lake, but we won’t stay here again or recommend it to friends. We’ll go to Elkhorn instead, where they at least understand customer service.
