Rodeway Inn

The front desk staff member was kind, understanding, and professional, and she did her best to help. That was the one good part of an otherwise very disappointing stay at the Rodeway Inn in Gaspé. We were in town for a large event, and this was the only room available, so we had no choice but to stay. The room smelled strongly of cigarettes and stale incense. We left the window and front door open for an hour, but the odor barely changed and made the room nearly unbearable. The television worked only now and then. The air conditioning didn't work at all, and the heat wouldn't respond even though the evenings were chilly. The soundproofing was also so poor that we could hear four people talking in the parking lot in the middle of the night, word for word. They weren't shouting, but their conversation continued for an hour and kept us from resting. The hotel charged the same rates as other places in town, with no discount to make up for the poor conditions. The stay affected our trip, and I wanted to warn others. I wouldn't stay here. Look elsewhere, even if you have to change your plans, because comfort and rest matter.

There were lots of towels, and I really liked the hotel. The room was spacious.

The boardwalk by the water was beautiful in the evening, and it felt safe and clean. The hotel is close to just about anything you might want to walk to. We also found some gifts for friends and family, plus beautiful postcards, at Les Créations Marie Gaudet, about a five-minute walk away. Walking along Rue De La Reine and stopping in there worked out well. We stayed a couple of nights at the Rodeway Inn and came away feeling great. The room was just the right size since we spent most of our time exploring Gaspésie. It felt safe, clean, and modern, with fair value. The staff made us comfortable checking in late at night, even with our limited French. We'd come back soon and recommend the Rodeway Inn to friends and family.

The location right in the downtown area was superb. The rooms were clean and well organized, but the service wasn't that good. Some basic things were missing from the rooms, and we had to call customer service multiple times.
