Cedar Lodge Motel

Everything was easy, from check-in to checkout. The motel looks a bit dated outside, and our non-smoking queen room was dated too, but it was clean. The microwave and little fridge came in handy. There was a small coffee maker, though we didn’t use it. The bed was comfortable, just softer than we like. The renovated bathroom looked modern and chic, with good water pressure, enough towels, and nice-smelling basic toiletries. We used and really liked the cold pool, hot tub, and sauna in the separate building at the front, facing the road. Ask at the front desk if you need extra towels. Shops, attractions, and downtown are close by, and some are walkable. We went as a couple at the end of May when it wasn’t busy, though I can imagine it gets much busier in summer. I’d definitely recommend staying here.

The room had everything we needed, and the bathrooms were nicely updated. But the air conditioning was a real problem. The wall unit seemed to run almost constantly just to keep the room at a decent temperature, and I lost a lot of sleep because of it. Some regular maintenance might have prevented that. I’d seen people raising the same issue up to three years ago, so it seems nothing has been done.

The rooms were clean, and the location was great. The pool and hot tub were running, and the in-room jacuzzi worked too. It wasn’t a top-notch hotel, but I wasn’t expecting one. Good value.

We were just looking for an affordable place for one night, and Cedar Lodge looked promising based on its website amenities and online reviews. We kept our expectations modest, so it was a nice surprise to arrive and find a clean, decent queen room with a good amount of space. The basic appliances were all clean and working. The pool, hot tub, and sauna weren’t top-notch, but they were good for the price, and it was quiet enough to enjoy them at our own pace. Cheaper doesn’t have to mean bad. I’d stay again.
