Hôtel Motel Granby

The price was reasonable for a last-minute place to sleep when everything else was booked or triple-priced during peak hockey tournament season. The staff seemed polite and left us alone. One of the two beds was comfortable, the pillows were decent, and hot water eventually came through after five solid minutes. There was a small Roku smart TV, open internet, a tea kettle, a working mini fridge, and a microwave. The rest was rough. I’d been told there were no animals, but the reception area, which was a couple’s living room, had at least three animals. Outside there was quite a bit of dog poop. I didn’t notice any elevators, though there were two floors. The vending machines were empty, and the payment room looked like a broom closet with a window. The hallway smelled like farts. On our room floor was something that looked like someone else’s bloody booger, and dirty socks in the corner that weren’t ours. There was hair on the bed that didn’t belong to us. The bathroom garbage bag had clearly been reused, with a dried orange peel, chewed gum, and coffee stains on it. The towels were tiny, and the room was dusty. It got us through the weekend in a pinch, but I probably won’t return.

We planned a last-minute trip to the zoo, and they were quick to get back to us and really helpful getting our booking sorted that day. The rooms were okay, but the holes in the bathroom looked just like knuckle prints, which was a little unsettling, and the towel rack had only been minimally repaired. We never got a hot shower, just cold water 😩. They also never reimbursed our deposit. If you need somewhere to sleep and don’t care about a hot shower, it’s a great deal.

The room was filthy when we arrived after a long day at Granby Zoo. There were cobwebs on the ceiling, mould and dirt in the bathroom, stained towels, and dirty floors. The trash bin was a chlorine bucket with a dirty bag in it. Mould covered the back of the vanity, apparently painted over, and the tub was chipped and badly in need of refreshing. The bathroom door was nearly impossible to shut, and conversations from other rooms came through clearly. I wouldn't recommend staying here. My girlfriend Tanya had posted a review first, and they called it false. Since the reservation was under my name, I decided to write one too.

I stayed two days and had a good experience. The place was clean and comfortable, and every interaction came with a smile. Some reviews say it's bad, but that wasn't my experience at all. Motel Granby deserves a 4.5-star rating. Thanks for a great stay!
