Igloo Inn

It looks nice from outside, and the receptionist was nice too. She told me this is one of the older inns in Grande Prairie. My room was disgusting: whatever had spilled on the walls hadn't been washed off, the carpet needs shampooing or replacing, and the top of the fridge and the bathroom were horrible. The place needs a serious clean-up and renovations as soon as possible. I was worried about bed bugs and even wondered about cockroaches.

I've been here a week, paying $81 a night with no deal. I keep coming back because it's cheap and indoors, which makes me feel safer, and they have smoking rooms. But those rooms stink so badly that I immediately bag my shoes and jacket and spray everything with body spray. I almost always have to clean the toilet as soon as I arrive, and the carpets and floors are always dirty. If I decide to stay another night, the front desk keeps pestering me to pay right away.

The customer service is awesome, and for the price the rooms are about what you'd expect. I stay because they offer a weekly rate. It's a budget hotel, though the hallways and parking lot are gross, with stains all over the carpets and garbage scattered through the lot.

At the end of the day, it's somewhere to sleep before work. The bed feels about as comfortable as the floor, and the rooms smell. A maid doesn't come until 8:30 pm, so people on day shifts who are trying to sleep can get a surprise visit while they're asleep. The hotel is in very poor shape, and the manager hasn't indicated that any construction is going on.
