The bar has a great atmosphere, and the big screens meant we could watch the Olympics over dinner. We had the moules & frites with homemade mayo, which was delicious, and the service was amazing. The new owners were there and very friendly. Kevin, our waiter, was attentive and polite. We'll be back soon, and I'd say give this place a try.

We had a spacious, thoughtfully put-together room with its own fireplace, which we used both nights. The hotel section we stayed in is what's left after a fire destroyed the rest of the building, but it has all been newly renovated and the work was done really well. The resto bar was nicely decorated and a great place for a drink and a bite to eat. They plan to add another restaurant and rebuild the rest of the hotel, including pools and a spa. If they keep putting the same care into the work, I think the finished result will be amazing. Thanks, we'll definitely be back.

The game and arcade area kept everyone entertained, and after long days of travel, the spa was a great place to relax and recharge. We had a wonderful family stay. The staff were so welcoming and friendly, and the rooms were clean, cozy, and comfortable. A great spot to unwind from busy work life. Highly recommended!

The room issues were only part of what made this stay so disappointing. We couldn't get coffee in the morning because there was no milk or tea in the room. The fridge, tucked behind sliding closet doors, was stuck in its dresser frame and wouldn't open. The safe was on the closet's top shelf, out of reach even for my 5'10" husband. At checkout, I mentioned these things to the same young woman from the night before. She said we could have asked reception for milk. I wasn't about to leave my room in my pajamas at 7 a.m. to get some. We'd booked a Sunday night on the way home from a wonderful weekend in Québec City. Years ago, we'd stayed at Lac Carling Hotel several times for golf and enjoyed meals at its restaurant, now called Marshals. Before booking, we saw a room that would suit us and a delicious menu, good service, and special ambiance at the restaurant listed online as open seven days a week. We called, were told there was availability, and reserved a Comfort Room for two. The hotel was very quiet, with only one other reservation that night. But Marshall wasn't open Sunday, despite that listing. We were disappointed since it was the main reason we'd chosen the hotel, but stayed because we'd already arrived. Our room was ready when we checked in around 3:30. The single key they gave us was hard to use. My husband fiddled with it several times before the door opened, and I struggled even when it wasn't locked. We also wanted to watch the FIFA games, but there was no TV. An information sheet said TVs cost 25 per day to rent. The young woman at the front desk seemed unsure about the request and said she'd try to find one, though she didn't know if it worked. About 30 minutes later, she called my husband's cell to say it had no antenna hookup. It was confusing, but there was no TV available to rent. I went down to tell the front desk how disappointed we were about the TV and restaurant. She offered an upgrade and showed us other activities that weren't suitable for our weekend, then gave us a 15% discount. She tried to find the website information about no TV, but neither she nor her coworker could locate it. She did agree the restaurant's seven-day listing was misinformation. No restaurant, TV, phone, milk, tea, usable fridge, or access to the safe. Our stay at Hotel Lac Carling was extremely disappointing, and we won't return.

The food was a highlight, especially the “Moules et Frites” made with the owner's mother's sauce recipe, and the crème brûlée was delicious. We also loved the breakfast and everything else we tried. Restaurants and service were available whenever we needed them, even during hockey overtime! We spent three nights at Carling Lake Hotel. I'd stayed before while filming a TV series in 2023, and it's a stunning, unique hotel with a lot of history. We got lucky with the weather. Rain had been forecast, but the sun came out for our whole stay, perfect for the gorgeous, immaculate golf course. We met the owners at dinner on our first night. They were busy looking after all the project details, and were really cool and friendly. I was impressed by the renovations, especially since the hotel had reopened only a week earlier. The new spa being built looks beautiful, and it sounds like things will keep getting even better. I want to come back with my girlfriends and enjoy it. The wedding and event hall feels straight out of a fairytale. ❤️ I highly recommend a visit!
