Coast Grimshaw Hotel & Suites

There are three teams staying here at the moment, and the hotel is sold out. It would usually be dead on a weekend like this. The pool hasn’t worked in five years, and there’s no other place for the kids to have fun while they’re here. The front desk attendant has been miserable and mean to the kids on the hockey teams. We were told most hotels aren’t hockey team friendly and don’t allow teams.

The clean smell of the sheets was lovely, and breakfast was great. When we arrived, the key cards were already ready, which saved time checking in. We’ve stayed here many times and have also used the meeting rooms. The front desk staff are always friendly and helpful. No complaints from me.

The room itself was clean, but the hotel had an old, dirty smell. There was an empty hole where the room’s fireplace had been, and the curtains were broken and wouldn’t close. The elevators and pool were out of order, and the pool hasn’t been open for several years. I wouldn’t recommend it. Peace River has better options at similar or lower rates.

The pool and all the ice machines were broken, and the staff were strict and unfriendly with the hockey families. I understand not wanting kids to run wild, but they weren’t willing to accommodate us at all. During the gold medal game this morning, the breakfast room TV was supposedly broken. It suddenly worked again after the game. The hotel is right across the road from the arena, so it’s in a prime spot for a hockey tournament. Three teams were staying there and the place was full of hockey families. It could be great in that location, but it chooses to neglect what some of its prime customers need and want.
