The staff were mostly friendly, and check-in was very efficient. But the hotel felt run down compared with my stay in 2017, when the rooms were clean, the staff were great, and the atmosphere was homey. Five years later, there were stained carpets, a dated and dirty breakfast nook, and an extremely unsanitary lobby bathroom. We were there for only an afternoon and morning and didn’t see any cleaning staff. Even the rooms described as recently renovated felt cold when we checked in, and one heater wouldn’t work properly. The carpets and other surfaces felt unpleasant. Some of my party had brought bedding from home. I hadn’t, and I regretted it. After a long night at a local event, I went to bed and saw that the bedding looked made up but had the distinct wrinkles and creases of someone having slept in it. I took a chance rather than call guest services at 1 a.m., and immediately regretted booking here. The pillow was greasy with old sweat and smelled of cologne. The others in my party didn’t seem to have the same problem, and their bedding looked fresh, stiff, and clean. There were smaller things too. The tissue box was staged with one neatly folded tissue sticking out, but it was empty underneath. And the coffee really isn’t amazing.

The staff let me leave my truck in their parking lot for the day after I checked out at 7:30 a.m. and packed it, so I could attend the last day of my conference and load my scooter before driving back to Woodstock. I really appreciated that. I was in Guelph for a three-day conference at the University of Guelph. My room was extremely clean, comfortable, and well appointed. I have a spinal injury and prefer a somewhat rigid mattress, and this one suited me well. I slept fine the first night and reasonably well the second and third. Great rooms, service, and hospitality. I’d heartily recommend the Days Inn on Gordon Street in Guelph. Thank you.

There’s plenty of parking, the staff are excellent and friendly, and the location is great, with a shopping centre across the street behind the hotel and more shops a few streets away. My only complaint was the second bed, which sat right above the room’s air conditioner. It blew cold air all night, every night. Those old, bulky units should be replaced with something quieter and more modern.

The online photos looked fine, and I only needed somewhere for one night while I was at a horse show, nothing fancy. But this place was gross and really run down. There were stains all over the carpet, hair on the bed, and mold on the ceiling. I didn’t expect that for nearly $300 for one night. Learn from my mistake, don’t stay here.

Being able to bring my dog was a real bonus, and I was very grateful for it. The morning coffee was very good, too. The woman at the front desk was kind when we checked out. Still, I was disappointed with the stay. There was no bath chair for someone with mobility issues, so I brought my own. The floor didn’t look clean, and we couldn’t regulate the heat. Nobody made the beds or brought fresh towels, so we had to ask. I understand not changing the sheets, but making the beds and cleaning the bathroom should be standard. The curtains were about four inches too short, so passing cars lit up the room. On the second night we used a towel to cover the window.
