The Halliburton

The bed was surprisingly good for my back. Usually I wake up sore after sleeping anywhere but my own bed, but not this time. We had a clean, pleasant petite room with a double bed, a nice bathroom, and no odd smell. Staff were very accommodating. We arrived in Halifax on a 7:15 am red-eye after a sleepless flight, and they stored our suitcases that morning and prioritized cleaning our room so we could check in early. The hotel is spread across three heritage buildings, with a small, lovely lobby, sitting room, and breakfast lounge in the main entrance building. The location is quiet and pleasant, with places like the public gardens nearby. I took off a star for location because it's toward one side of downtown, so many places can be a long walk. It's also a good option if you're catching the train.

Spacious, cozy rooms and parking included behind the hotel. A lovely place to stay in central Halifax, close to the waterfront, restaurants, cafes, and more.

The Halliburton is an older hotel, but it's kept in great shape and was clean. Our room had its own character, with antique furnishings, and we enjoyed the courtyard and garden. The complimentary morning coffee in the library was a nice touch, and we went back in the afternoon for a couple of drinks at happy hour. The staff really helped make the stay enjoyable. We'd love to come back.

The old fashioned charm and history are a big part of what I liked here. Staff were helpful and friendly, and the location made it easy to walk everywhere. There was free morning coffee in the sitting rooms of the main building. Out back, the seating area had a water feature and lights. We got lucky with parking, but they were happy to offer backup parking within a reasonable walk.
