Admiral Inn Hamilton

The food was fresh, tasty, and nicely prepared, and the room was clean and comfortable. The staff were very welcoming and made an effort to help. I had a wonderful stay at the Admiral Inn in Hamilton and would recommend it to anyone visiting.

The staff are what made this feel like a family hotel. During our three days and two nights, David at the front desk and I chatted whenever I passed through the lobby. He had a good laugh at my Halloween costume. He also introduced us to Linda, who looked after my daughter and me at breakfast, and Cheryl, the cook. I hope I have Cheryl’s name spelled right. We all got along so well that I was sorry to leave. On November 1, when I was celebrating my 65th birthday, Cheryl paid for my breakfast and Linda treated my daughter and me to coffee. Such a kind gesture, and we shared plenty of laughs. I was visiting family from October 31 to November 2, and felt welcome from the moment I arrived, with friendly security at the door. The room and dining room were clean, and I felt safe there. Dundrum Castle is right across the road, and we toured it. The hotel itself may seem ordinary to most people, but its staff made it top notch for me. I’ll return whenever I visit family. Thanks to everyone I met, and keep up the good work!

We had a lovely meal with my work colleagues. Krystle was warm and helpful with the menu, and the schnitzel was delicious.

I couldn’t wait to leave after our two-night booking. There were sketchy people hanging around, the halls smelled of cigarettes and takeout, and dogs barked constantly. I felt unsafe, especially at night and in the parking lot. People without a key could get in far too easily, which made the lack of security worrying. After the first night, our key cards stopped working. The front desk had apparently misread the reservation and deactivated them. Once they were reactivated, I asked for a late checkout the next day. Someone said a note would be made, but at exactly 11:00 the next morning a brusque woman called to say we had to leave. When I reminded her we’d requested checkout at noon, she just said, “Oh,” and hung up. No apology or anything.
