Glacier View Lodge

I didn't stay overnight, but the lodge is where people meet before heading to the Athabaska glacier. There's a great outdoor deck with lovely views. Inside, you'll find a cafe and restaurant, a Starbucks, a gift shop, the skywalk meeting point, bathrooms, and the ticketing area.

The room was very comfortable, with nice upscale touches like Dyson hair dryers and premium shower soaps and shampoos. After a long day, Llewyn at the concierge desk went out of their way to make us feel welcome, and the view and staff both made a strong impression. The hotel felt like a quiet retreat compared with the busy main floor below. The complimentary evening cocktail reception was a pleasant way to unwind, though the staff walkie-talkies went off at a really loud volume. We’d highly recommend staying here.

Having a room facing Athabasca Glacier was pure magic. I loved making Nespresso coffee and drinking it in private while looking out at the view. The lodge itself was modern, clean, and comfortable, with a spacious, airy feel. Its lobby is especially memorable, with a huge window pointed straight at the glacier. After the icefield and skywalk tour, staying here was a great choice. The welcome reception was a nice chance to check in with other travelers and have a free drink. It didn't disappoint, and I can't wait to come back.

The views give this hotel the potential to be a great destination, and the concept is promising. Still, the stay fell short of that promise. For the price, I found the service particularly disappointing. Some staff were unprofessional and didn't show basic courtesy, which took away from the experience. Better training and more attention to detail could make a real difference.
