Best Western Premier Aberdeen Kamloops

The only real positive was that the bed was somewhat comfortable. The view was just a parking lot and gas station, and the hotel felt overpriced for the quality and service. I’ve stayed in cheaper Kamloops hotels that were much cleaner and had far better service. Management needs to improve cleanliness, facility maintenance, and pricing. The online pictures looked amazing, but the actual place felt small and cramped. The lobby was tiny and often crowded, and the one elevator was constantly packed. Our room looked okay at first, but it hadn’t been properly cleaned, and we had to do some of it ourselves. Shampoo and conditioner were empty, so we had to go down to the service desk for refills. The pool area was extremely dirty. The gym is right next to it, and people coming from the pool left the gym floor wet and slippery. There were no wet-floor signs, which felt unsafe. The sauna was dry, not warm, and smelled terrible. It seemed like it hadn’t been maintained in a long time.

We picked this hotel because it looked pristine and cozy, especially the architecture at the front. I guess we learned not to stay at Best Westerns from now on. I’m writing this seven months later, but the place was pretty dirty, much like the city it was in. The public pool looked worse than some lakes back home in Ontario. When we asked about cleaning and water testing, the only answer was that it was up to date with the cleaning schedule. It didn’t look that way. We asked to test the water ourselves and were denied, even though we have a pool and know how to keep it clean and healthy. Our room was really gnarly. The view was just a road, which wasn’t my main concern. The sheets were wet, and I don’t want to know what the liquid was. The loud AC was right beside the bed, so getting good sleep was hard, especially with a two-hour drive to Whistler the next day.

The staff at Best Western Premier were helpful and friendly throughout my visit. My room was clean, well maintained, and comfortable. It was spacious, and I’d definitely recommend staying here.

I travel for work and spend at least a week a month in Kamloops. After trying a different hotel on each visit for six months, I settled on the Best Western Premier for value and a comfortable place to stay away from home. I’ve spent roughly 40 nights here this past year. What mattered to me was the overall room setup and service: USB charging ports beside the bed and extra outlets on both sides, clean and tidy rooms for the price, full blackout roll-down blinds, comfortable pillows, a water bottle in the fridge for every guest, video casting to the TV, good shower pressure, and climate control that responds quickly. I also value not hearing the neighbours, friendly and helpful staff, membership points that don’t expire, and the tasty attached restaurant. A few drawbacks: the hot tub is usually family-friendly warm rather than hot, and the restaurant doesn’t open early enough for early morning workers, opening at 8am. The view isn’t postcard-worthy, either a valley with two beautiful gas stations in the foreground or a street at the back. Parking can get tight when the hotel and restaurant are busy, though most hotels nearby have limited parking, especially if you arrive later in the evening. There’s a liquor store and lots of walkable restaurants, including a pub, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Coras Breakfast, Starbucks, and Tim Hortons. If you’re after a comfortable stay where the value matches the money, it’s a great option.
