Knights Inn Kamloops

The staff and managers were rude, ignorant, and disrespectful. At checkout, the manager snapped that it was on the receipt and that he could charge whatever he wanted. The front desk woman had already charged us $20 for using three towels before she even went up to check the room. If you’re thinking of staying here, expect another $50 for an extra person, plus $22 tax on that charge, on top of the $140 and taxes already paid for the room. This was the worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at. I’d warn anyone considering it to stay away.

For the price, it’s great. The room was clean, nice, and bigger than I expected, with a good shower and good pressure. Breakfast was simple and clean too. The stairs are the main downside, and the ramp is at the back, a fair distance from the parking and rooms, so it’s not friendly for people with mobility challenges. Photo from the window.

There was nowhere to get cutlery, bowls, or glasses for food and drinks we brought ourselves. We heated dinner in takeaway packaging in the microwave, then ate it on paper plates with bamboo cutlery. Unfortunately, that’s what I’ll remember about this hotel. It also strikes me that hotels use too much disposable cutlery, plates, and food packaging in general. The industry should be leading on sustainability, and I get annoyed when they seem to think this is cost-effective. It was easy to find, with comfortable beds, a clean room, and a hallway wide enough to drive a car down. The complimentary breakfast was okay, though not exciting.

It’s clean and a good value, with grocery stores, a dollar store, coffee shops, and restaurants nearby. The price was the lowest in the area, yet breakfast was free and well stocked. It’s not really five-star great beyond the price, and I need Google Maps to get here, though it isn’t hard to reach. The property is built on a slope, and the floors seem to shift inside. My room leaned one way, then the floor slanted the other way by the bathroom. I even had a spare marble to check. Driving around to the back felt scary tight, the street is awkward, and traffic was heavy and fast.
