Comfort Inn Kingston - Highway 401

The convenient location is great for shops and nightlife, but we couldn't wait to leave this hotel and won't be back. We were there for a hockey tournament over the weekend, and nothing in our room was topped up. Even the garbage wasn't emptied, and the staff looked miserable and weren't friendly. Half the place was under construction, there was no elevator, and the rooms were tiny and narrow. With a stroller or lots of bags, expect to make several trips. There was no complimentary shampoo or conditioner, and not much else either. The hotels on both sides had pools and waterslides, while this one had nothing. It might do for one quick night, but the bad reviews are true.

The rooms were on the small side, but the layout worked and they had everything we needed. We were looking for a clean, simple stay at a good price before early appointments in Kingston, and that's what we got. The staff were very friendly and especially kind. We'd absolutely come back.

The room itself was nice and clean, better than other Comfort Inns or similar places I've stayed, and the breakfast room looked clean with the expected food. But I had a terrible night. We checked in close to midnight, exhausted, and went to bed. Around 2 AM I woke to loud voices and a sense that someone was in the room. A few minutes later, I thought someone had opened the door. I jumped up and found three people, likely including staff. They said the room had mistakenly been assigned to someone else. I tried to sleep again, but people kept opening the door several times. I eventually slept from sheer exhaustion, and even skipped breakfast to try to get more rest. Then housekeeping opened the door repeatedly too. By 10 AM I went downstairs with puffy eyes from lack of sleep. The receptionist didn't offer anything close to an apology, saying the system had gone down and I wasn't showing in it. I told them that wasn't my fault: I'd booked a room to sleep before heading back, and multiple people trying to enter had ruined that. Still no real apology. Back upstairs, the receptionist called again asking for details to fill in the system, disturbing me once more. I've never experienced anything like this. I expect the owners or management to refund at least the booking amount for ruining my sleep and, as a result, my Sunday plans.

We had a spacious room with everything a family would need for one night, and the breakfast was sumptuous. The parking lot felt safe to us too. It was a very satisfying stay, and we'd be glad to come back.
