Embassy Motel

I was stuck in Kingston while my car was being repaired, and this motel was conveniently right next to the dealership. The room was comfortable and clean, the price was reasonable, and the staff treated me kindly. I appreciated that they wore masks. It was a pleasant stay.

The bathroom fan was the main thing I disliked. It was loud. The place was being renovated, but the work happened at reasonable hours and didn’t bother us, except when we slept in. I’m not sure why this motel was practically empty while the one down the street was packed. That one may have cost $5-10 more or something. Our room was as far from Princess St. as possible, away from the main road, so traffic there barely bothered us. The big parking lot helped. The huge window was a little weird, like living in a shop window with the curtains open, but I actually liked it. Working at the dining table with the curtains open made it feel like sitting on a deck on a summer day, even though it was a cold, snowy day in March. The decor is basic, as you’d expect in a motel, but it had what we needed. The guy at the front desk seemed to have a good head on his shoulders. I liked him, and might even guess he has a master’s or Ph.D. We were moving to Kingston and had some UHaul dealings, so the location worked especially well for us.

After striking out at more than five motels, we were amazed by how welcoming and friendly the staff were. They suggested a nearby restaurant, and it turned out to be absolutely amazing. Getting extra towels was no trouble. For four people, one night came to just over $100, a bargain compared with other motels.

I stayed here about a week ago. It’s definitely not fancy, but the place was clean and quiet, and cheap. The staff were really nice and helpful. If that’s what you’re looking for, I’d recommend it.
