Home2 Suites by Hilton Kingston

Home2 Suites worked well for my short or business stay. It’s modern and practical, though not a luxury hotel. The location is handy, with downtown a short drive away and a few restaurants and stores nearby. I felt safe in the area, and parking was easy. My room was clean and comfortable, with the basics I needed. The small kitchen area was a real plus. Breakfast was simple but decent, and the staff were polite and helpful when I needed them.

The strong, lingering smell around the bed kept waking us, even after we switched to our own linens and pillows. It was especially hard on our one-year-old, and in the end we had to cut our trip short. The room wasn’t perfectly clean, though it was acceptable overall. Management later apologized and mentioned that a refund might be offered as a goodwill gesture. After that, we heard nothing further. That lack of follow-up was extremely disappointing. For a Hilton-branded property, both the room condition and the handling afterward fell well short of what I expected. An apology without action doesn’t fix the problem.

The room was fabulous, and the kitchenette impressed me: a large fridge, prep space, dishwasher with soap, and dishes and cutlery for four. There were even Corelle bowls with lids for heating food. Marcy at the front desk was great, and the hotel was easy to find. I’ll definitely stay here next time I’m in Kingston.

We got adjoining rooms, which worked perfectly for our family, and the kitchenettes were well stocked. The rooms were clean, and check-in was a breeze. I liked being able to keep the keys on my phone. We skipped breakfast, though it smelled great. We’d definitely stay again.
