Sun Parlor Motel

The only real upside was being close to places to eat: Jose's is next door and the food is Great, while McDonald's, KFC, and Subway are a five-minute walk. Everything else was a letdown. I’ve stayed here before and had a wonderful time, but this visit made me want my money back and to leave. The bathroom floor was dirty, there was Man's hair on the shower walls and somebody's butt crack on the back of the toilet seat. The tabletops were sticky with glass marks, the sheets were inside out as if they’d been reused without changing, and the beds weren’t made properly. The owner said floors are only washed 1x week??? There was a strange smell I couldn’t place, and the wall picture looked like it was from the 1950s and hadn’t been painted in years. I heard someone who sounded sick behind the counter while checking in. The price was $40 more than agreed. There was no hair dryer, water, soap, or shampoo. I raised my concerns right away and asked for another room, but was refused unless I paid more. I’m being generous with the stars.

The room temperature was comfortable, which mattered to me since I can’t stand cold rooms, and the water was very hot at both the sink and shower. It was quiet, with no noisy neighbours, and the location was good. Cleaning and staff were okay. The room felt old and had a strong, odd smell. There were no tissues, so bring your own, and no blackout curtains. A bright light outside made it hard to sleep in the dark. Breakfast isn’t offered either. For what you get, I think the price could be lower. The decor and furniture could use an update.

It’s a motel, so don’t expect a 5 star Fairmoint. Still, it’s clean and newly renovated, with no old filthy carpets. It’s downtown Leamington, near food and restaurants, and about 15 min from Point Peele.

The TV worked the first night, though the volume was very low, then stopped working that night and the next morning. Some of us still like to watch the news and unwind. A bright light outside the room also made sleeping difficult. They left two waters and two cups when I arrived, but the next day there was only one water and no cups. The bath towels were the size of hand towels and too small even for me at 4ft 10in. The bath and toilet share one room, while the hand basin and towels are in a separate little cubby hole. That setup just doesn’t make sense.
