Rum Runner Inn

The receptionist was delightful and let us check in early since our room was ready. We were shown to the room and offered help with our luggage. It was immaculately clean, the air conditioning worked extremely well, and the king bed was super comfortable. There was also a fridge and coffee maker, with complimentary coffee and tea. The private balcony and gorgeous harbour view were a real perk. We stayed at the RumRunner Inn on our first night in Nova Scotia, and it did not disappoint. We’d happily stay again.

It’s an easy walk to the shops and restaurants, and guests can use a shared deck or balcony. The room was basic, freshly painted, and right on the town’s main street. There’s no breakfast, but the room had coffee, tea, an electric kettle, mini milks in the fridge, and a microwave. If you’re up early, finding breakfast or coffee in town is tough: nothing opens before 8, and most coffee shops start at 8:30. Luckily, Tim Hortons is a five-minute drive away, or you could bring supplies for the fridge. A reasonable budget motel-style room.

The boy at the front desk was so helpful, and the room had a great view of the water. It was very clean and neat, and probably the quietest place we stayed during our two weeks away. We were here in late August 2025 and were very happy with our stay. We’d definitely come back.

We loved sitting on the enclosed second-floor porch, with its chairs, table, and wine glasses, and looking out at the harbor. The room was comfortable and the bed was heavenly. The front desk staff, especially the young ladies working there, were lovely, kind, friendly, and really helpful. The Rum Runner Inn was delightful, highly recommended!
