Best Western Plus Moncton

Abdul at reception was helpful and friendly when we checked in, but the rest of our visit was disappointing. We’ve stayed at this location many times, and it seems to be going downhill. Our third-level room would have been fine, but the elevator was out of service and we weren’t told ahead of time. The pool was cold, and nobody was using it even though the hotel was at maximum occupancy. My son swam anyway, but there wasn’t a single towel when he got out. Breakfast was a sad sight when we went down at 8:30: no cereal, muffins or eggs, and only about four yogurts in the fridge. When my son asked the staff if there was more cereal, they said no. Several people came down after us, saw what was left and didn’t eat. Why advertise a pool if it’s too cold to swim in, or free breakfast if it isn’t replenished? The three flags out front were shredded, probably by the wind and cold, and visible from our room window. It all spoke to the state of the hotel. There’s no attention to detail and little to no care for the customer, even though you pay the rate.

I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone. They don’t answer the front desk phone, clean the property or salt the parking lot. The beds aren’t clean either. Stay somewhere else and avoid this infested “hotel”.

Both rooms we tried, first on the ground floor and then on the second floor, were filthy. The floors hadn’t been swept, and the bathroom floor was stained around the tub and toilet. There were beer corks under the coach and lots of food wrappers. The coach and chair were so dirty you couldn’t sit on the coach, and a metal bar hit right on your tailbone. We paid $506.00 for the weekend. What for?

The front desk clerk was genuinely sweet and tried to help, but the rest of the stay was rough. Our room wasn't ready at check-in, and when we asked, housekeeping yelled at both us and the clerk. We put my spouse and wheelchair back in the car and went out to wait. Hours passed without an update. When we called, they said the room was ready, though nobody had contacted us. The room smelled like bile and felt dated and dingy. The fridge hadn't been cleaned. The Jacuzzi's pipes and insulation were fully exposed, and the big hatch meant to cover them wouldn't shut properly. I was too grossed out to use it. There was a mismatched cushion on the armchair, the main lamp kept flickering, and a paint patch on the fixtures was an odd shade of blue. The security latch wouldn't stay fully engaged. There were no breakfast options, including anything allergy-friendly, and the internet was too slow to use. We could hear staff talking in the halls throughout our stay, including lots of discussion about workplace problems and a training shift that sounded surprisingly aggressive. The number that said to text for help never replied. Customer service only emailed back after checkout, and there was no manager available onsite when things went wrong.
