Best Western Plus Mont-Laurier

Bad experience. When I called to change or cancel a reservation, they hung up because I don't speak French. They charged me for the missed stay, then denied hanging up or that anyone at the desk couldn't speak English. Later that week I stayed at the hotel and checked out, but the desk person spoke no English and couldn't understand when I asked for my bill. So I'm a liar? I still don't have a bill. Stay somewhere else!

The bathroom came stocked with shampoo, conditioner, lotion, two soaps, a makeup remover wipe, hair dryer, and shower cap. There was basic cable on the TV, with additional channels available to buy. The bed was fairly comfortable, though the pillows were just okay. The room itself was clean, comfortable, and very quiet, with great Wi-Fi. The front of the building was being renovated, but I couldn't hear it from my room. Breakfast was served only until 9:30, and I slept in. The staff were accommodating and reopened the kitchen so I could at least have cereal and yogurt. They were very helpful throughout.

We were in room 209, a clean and cozy spot. The breakfast selection was plentiful compared with other places, and the quality was good. The elevator especially impressed us. Thanks to Alexandra for the quick, caring service.

It's a nice, clean place and looks new or at least well kept. Breakfast was good, and the staff were very nice. In summer, though, sleeping was almost impossible with the noisy window AC unit. We were on the ground floor and didn't feel comfortable leaving the patio door open, even though the grounds are under camera surveillance. A note for the staff: at 8:30 in the morning, telling guests there's no coffee because there are no cups just doesn't work. Run to the dollar store and get some. How does a Best Western run out of coffee cups? Still, the friendly, obliging staff and people in Mont Laurier shouldn't be put off by this.
