Auberge Royal Versailles

Staff were courteous, and the room and corridors were clean. The building and rooms feel dated and could use a refresh. The floor in our room was peeling, and the TV was very old. Reception gave us a steering wheel lock, apparently because car theft is common in the neighborhood.

The location is hard to beat: the hotel is right by Radisson metro station, across from Place Versailles shopping plaza, and within easy walking distance of Maxi and Harvey's. The metro also gave us quick access to downtown Montreal. On top of that, the price was reasonable.

The rooms were clean, the service was great, and the front desk ladies were a delight to deal with. We did have trouble with the outlets, though. They were inconsistent, and some didn’t work. I was skeptical at first after reading other reviews, but honestly this is a good choice for a few nights, especially compared with pricier places. It’s not luxurious, but it does the job if you just need a place to stay. The metro is right next door for getting downtown, and there’s a mall and several other plazas across the street.

I rarely write negative reviews, but my stay at L’Auberge Royal Versailles was really unpleasant. A man wearing only pants kept knocking on my door, and reception took two calls before dealing with it. The TV in my room didn’t work, and nobody followed up after I reported it. Later, the toilet wouldn’t flush, and they said my only option was to use the lobby restroom. The experience was very disappointing. I hope management takes guest safety and room maintenance seriously and makes improvements.
