Novotel Montreal Centre

The room and bathroom were clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast buffet was great, with lots of options. The location is fantastic, with plenty of nearby food choices and local sights within walking distance if the weather permits. I had an interview at the consulate and it was only five minutes away. They didn’t provide complimentary water bottles at check-in, so it’s better to bring your own. That wasn’t a deal breaker for us.

We had a lovely stay at Novotel Centre in December, 2025. The neighbourhood is well lit and felt safe, right in downtown Montreal. Check-in and checkout were easy, and the lobby smelled amazing. The room looked like the website pictures, and was large, clean, and well heated. Complimentary coffee and tea were included. The nightly price was okay, though it could be cheaper considering there’s no breakfast and no amenities other than a gym. There’s no pool. The pullout couch was outdated, and the fridge barely kept drinks cold. It was packed with overpriced drinks and snacks, leaving barely any room for water or other things that need refrigeration. That could be a problem in summer. The washroom was clean, but the toilet was awkwardly tucked behind the door. The toilet paper was thin and hard, and softer two ply would be nice.

The location is the one plus. The hotel next door costs about the same and looks better. The room was okay, but the lobby was filthy, and the bathroom is basically a glass fishbowl. You can’t turn on the bathroom light without lighting up the whole suite, though the toilet might be separate. Breakfast was vile. We walked in and were seated expecting a nice meal, but while I was reading the menu, they told me to go to the buffet. They didn’t give us any prices. The food was low quality bacon and wet, weird scrambled eggs. The water and juice were empty, and I had to chase someone down for coffee. The pastries were good, but not worth $30/person. Walk down the road for a full service breakfast or brunch at the same price, or just get a cafe meal for a fraction of the cost.

Our room was ready early and clean during our two night stay. We had breakfast at the restaurant on site, and the food was good. They didn’t charge for our 11 year old, which was a nice touch. They also let our team use the conference room to warm up. I’d definitely recommend this hotel if you want to stay near downtown.
