Moosomin Motel

I’ve stayed in plenty of hotels, and this was the best sleep I’ve had in any of them. That’s why I gave it four stars. I judge a place by the price, cleanliness, whether it has what I need, quiet, and a comfortable bed. It did well on all of that. Decor doesn’t factor into my reviews. Who cares?

We paid $71 plus tax, which was just too much. There was no breakfast, and the floor was terribly cold, probably because there’s no insulation underneath. I assume it’s a trailer motel without insulation under the floor. The room was very dirty, including the microwave and fridge. Their board says renovated and clean, but I don’t know what’s been renovated, our room certainly wasn’t. There was no shampoo, just a soap dispenser with the same soap as the one beside the sink. Even in a two-bed room there was only one coffee pod. When we asked for another, the person wasn’t very happy, but did give us two.

I was too tired to drive any farther, so I stopped at the first motel I came across and wasn’t expecting much beyond a low price. The proprietor was friendly, and the room cost $50 plus tax. It was clean and seemed recently renovated, with a mini fridge, microwave, and a nice TV with cable. The bed was comfortable and I slept well. That was all I needed, and I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again.

Everything worked, and I got a good, quiet sleep. It’s a very basic room with coffee for the morning and an easy check-in. The kitchenette was well used but had plenty of supplies. The bathroom is tiny and the tub needs replacing, but the shower was hot and the towels were clean.
