We had to walk down the street to get cash from an ATM at midnight because the debit and credit machine wasn't working. I wanted to support a mom-and-pop place, but I wouldn't stay here again. The bed was clean and comfortable, and the coffee tasted good, though we had to pick a dead fly out of the percolator. The price was good, but the walls were paper thin. I could hear someone sneezing two doors away. The floors creaked and were falling apart, with the bathroom floor lifting and held down by green tape. Paint was peeling, there were big gaps around the door frames, and none of the doors had deadbolts. Some reviews had made me want to check the place out. Honestly, I would've rather slept in my car.

For $55, my girlfriend and I were happy with the stay. We were driving from Ontario to Alberta and found the place on Google Maps. After seeing rates of $90-100 elsewhere, we called and took the $55 rate. The front desk guy was friendly and got us checked in quickly. Sure, the building and room were run down, but for that price we didn't mind. The surfaces and bathroom were clean, and the fridge, microwave, and coffee maker all worked. The TV had cable, and the bed had fresh-smelling sheets with the creases still in them. Some snob might complain about the rough edges, or make up stuff about rats, ahem, like the poster below. We'd stay again and support the local business instead of paying double at the big-name place down the road.

The owners live on site and were really kind and helpful. I called ahead to ask for a room and let them know we'd be arriving late. We got there around 11:30 pm, and they stayed up waiting for us, which was really nice. For $55 a night, my boyfriend and I had a clean, private room with its own bathroom, a very comfortable bed, and a pretty nice flat-screen TV. The Wi-Fi didn't work, though we were just there to sleep, so it didn't bother us much. If you're used to fancy city hotels and motels, this might not be your kind of stop. But if you don't mind an older, outdated place, you'll be happy, especially at that price. I definitely recommend it!

My car broke down by the side of the road, so I stayed the night. The managers kindly let me stay and then drove me back to my vehicle in the morning so I could fix it up. It's a plain motel, but the people were exceptional. All in all, it was an excellent experience, and I'll be back. Twitter: @mike_moreau

The room had a musty smell throughout. The place is quite run down, and the window frames were blackened, with windows that didn't lock. The shower had low water pressure. There was no Wi-Fi or LAN, despite what the online ad says. The TV was basic cable on a 12" CRT.
