I’ve cancelled my Sunday night stay. The room was freezing and smelled of stale smoke, and the bed was just as bad: tiny throw-cushion-sized pillows, a beige bottom sheet, and cigarette burns on the bed covering. The curtains didn’t fully cover the ground-floor sliding doors facing the parking lot. There wasn’t even a cup in the bathroom for rinsing after brushing my teeth. The TV remote batteries died as soon as I turned the TV on. No Wi-Fi password, barely any cell signal, and the room card reader wasn’t working. I called the front desk three times on a phone with awful static and nobody answered.

If my flight hadn’t been the next day, I would’ve left right away. We picked this hotel for its proximity to the airport, but the room was disgusting. The sheets were dirty, the bathroom towels were stained yellow, and there were blood marks on the shower curtain. The room smelled of smoke and strong body odor. Wi-Fi barely worked, and the TV remote was held together with duct tape. The key card machine was broken, so we had to ask the front desk staff to let us into our own room every time. Worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at.

The front desk staff were very friendly, but that was about the only good part. The room lights didn’t work, so I had to use my phone light to find the bedside lamp. I had no key access and needed the desk clerk to let me in, which meant leaving my room unlocked when I went out for coffee. Breakfast was a tiny muffin and instant oatmeal. The towels were grey and threadbare instead of white, and the Canadian flag outside was in tatters, especially disappointing on Remembrance Day. Not worth the money.

I paid $150 for a one-bed room and got five hours of sleep. I was so grossed out that I stayed fully clothed on top of the bedding and wore my shoes right up to the bed before taking them off. I didn’t want my feet touching the floor. I’ve slept outside in the wild and lived without water or electricity, so this was bad even by my standards. I can’t imagine how a germaphobe would handle it. The carpet stains and smells were horrendous and everywhere, the bedding looked like cut fabric instead of actual bedding, and the white linens and towels had a yellow tint. Even the wall pictures and lights were dirty and crooked. The leather was mostly gone from the couch. I chose this place at the last minute for convenience before my 6 a.m. flight, after searching for an airport hotel. Bad idea. I wish I’d taken photos, or just slept in my rental car.

We were honestly afraid to put our suitcases down because of all the floor stains and the furniture falling apart in the rooms. If it hadn’t been 2 a.m. and all of us exhausted, we would have left. This place needs to be torn down so the insurance money can go toward building something nicer. I hate giving bad reviews, but a hotel this gross is indefensible.
