Econo Lodge

Highway 11 closed while we were already in North Bay, so we couldn't get any farther and had to book another room there for the night. We had reserved a room with our Choice points, but Econo Lodge wouldn't do anything to help, even though the closure was outside our control. I also emailed Choice, and haven't had a reply in two weeks. Very disappointing customer service.

It's clean, though a little dated, and cleanliness matters more to me than updates. It could use some paint. The front desk lady was helpful and gave us lots of information about nearby restaurants. I'd definitely come back. Four stars for an encolodge.

After a 14-hour drive, we were tired and just slept for five hours before leaving. I had booked and paid at the front desk for two queen beds, and confirmed they were queen beds before paying. The room had double beds instead. When I called reception to ask to switch, he said it was all the same and that the large bed counted as a queen. At 4 a.m. I wasn't going to argue about bed size. The room was also very old and smelled. The worst stay ever, and not worth $204.

The continental breakfast was good, though very basic. The rest was disappointing: someone had left popcorn in the bed, the fridge didn't work and spoiled most of my food, and the room was too hot with no heating control. I had to leave the door open and go buy a fan. They charge way too much for a place like this. For the price, I expected better.
