Super 8 by Wyndham Niagara Falls North

Off-season rates were better than a lot of nearby places, and they still served a good breakfast. The Super 8 is a smaller hotel that seems like it used to be a mom-and-pop place before becoming a franchise. The rooms were perfectly clean, and I’ll return.

The staff were friendly, but breakfast was the worst we’ve had at a motel. It was just bread, cereal, coffee, orange juice and apple juice. We stayed Dec 24 to 26, and the opened milk packs were well past their best-before dates, Dec 15 and 16. Who drinks milk ten days after that? I couldn’t check the bread dates because the labels were missing. The room had a refrigerator, coffee maker, small table and chair, plus old antique-style furniture. For two nights with family, they gave us only two coffee packs. Parking was free, and it took about ten minutes to drive downtown or to the Falls. Don’t expect much here. You get what you pay for, and there are places with better service for almost the same price.

The room smelled stale as soon as I opened the door, and that human odor lingered all day, including in the pillows. The carpet looked dusty, and I found a spider nest in a corner. I was worried there might be bedbugs, though I haven’t found any so far. I’m very disappointed. The Super 8 I stayed at in Cornwall felt good, so I expected this one to be similar. Looking at these pictures, is this acceptable? I’m simply not satisfied.

Terry made a big difference during our visit. He was kind, helpful and went out of his way to make our stay memorable. The hotel felt welcoming, and the room had everything I needed to relax. I stayed for two nights and found it clean and comfortable. Genuine hospitality like his is rare. I’d highly recommend the hotel and will definitely return.
