It’s a sketchy neighborhood and doesn’t seem like a popular area, even though the place is next to the RCMP office. This place is a dive. The room we got wasn’t worth even the Airmiles we spent, and giving it a star feels like an overrating. Airmiles should delist this “hotel”.

We checked out after just an hour. We’d already switched rooms hoping to get hot water for a shower at 9pm, but room number two had none either. There were dirty shoe prints in the tub, blood or poo on the bathroom wall, and dirty light switches. The pool and elevator didn’t work, and police were speaking with a man in the lobby who’d been assaulted. Top notch place. At least the staff member didn’t argue when I asked for my money back.

We had to stay because the roads were icy, and I agree with the bad reviews. Our room may have been the nicest compared to others, and it was fairly quiet despite the train and pigeons. The window was streaked with poo, missing its bottom pane and screen. I didn’t see bed bugs, but there was a mouse turd stuck to the shower wall and dead little flies under the table lamp. I couldn’t tell whether the stuff on the carpet was carpet fresh or diatomaceous earth. I hope we didn’t bring home any critters. This place needs a health inspection. I’d better get some extra Wyndham points for staying here.

Pigeons were all over the building, with piles of their droppings on and around the windows. The lobby smelled strongly of mold or mildew. The elevator still wasn’t working, despite staff saying it was being fixed right then. I looked it up and found it apparently hadn’t worked for nearly a year, so they lied to my face. The breakfast room had apparently flooded and also wasn’t available, but staff lied about that too. None of the amenities they advertised were actually available. I paid full price even though they weren’t working, and the advertised amenities were the reason I booked. This was one of my worst hotel stays in a very long time. I wouldn’t recommend it to friends, family, or even my worst enemy.

I was passing through on a long road trip, the Holiday Inn was sold out, and there was no Hilton. Looking back, I should have booked at the gold Eagle Casino Hotel. As soon as I saw this place’s lot and exterior, I knew I’d made a mistake. At check-in, they told me the elevator was out of service, so I’d have to use the stairs. There was bleach on the carpet, apparently used to remove what I guessed was blood, but there was still blood on another part of the room’s carpet. The sink and tub taps had to run for about five minutes before the water got warm. The window looked like one from an old prison, as if a push might send it crashing down onto the pigeons making noise all night. The two queen beds were far too big for the tiny room. The decorative duvet cover and one towel were stained, and the bathroom door looked like it had been repaired many times after holes were punched or kicked into it. I wouldn’t even consider eating in the dining room, and I’m not sure it was open. Later I read that the elevator hadn’t worked in a year. At checkout, I asked when it would be fixed and was told they didn’t know. I let them know it probably wouldn’t be fixed and that they seemed to be waiting for the place to run into the ground before closing its doors. You won’t get repeat customers here, just people who find it for the first time by accident.
