Tobermory Princess Hotel

The whole hotel is being renovated, and our room had been completely redone. It was clean and had a beautiful view. The woman at the front desk was very nice, and Jack was especially courteous. When I asked what time breakfast opened, he said 9, then asked when my coworker and I had to leave for work. He came in early and made breakfast for us. He really went out of his way. The Princess Hotel feels warm and welcoming, and I’d absolutely recommend it. Shout out to Jack!

The staff are delightful, the rooms are spacious and reasonably priced, and the location is right in the heart of downtown Tobermory by the harbor. My wife and I had a third-floor room with a beautiful harbor view, and watching the sunrise from the balcony with coffee was lovely. We’ve become completely enamored with the Tobermory Princess Hotel and are already planning another trip. I hadn’t realized from the Google Maps listing, which only showed “Breakfast” when I wrote this, that the hotel has a full restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. It’s a Greek restaurant, and the Greek dishes are amazing. I’d also recommend the whitefish dishes. After staying in quite a few hotels over the last few years, it’s a joy to find one with a working restaurant open all day. On vacation, I often don’t want to get dressed up and go out to find a meal.

We had dinner there on 7/24/25 when the power went out, but the staff were very helpful and accommodating. The whitefish was amazing, and so was the chicken wrap. They stayed patient even as some customers acted entitled, letting their kids run around and disturb everyone. Once that group left, it was nice and quiet, and we enjoyed the rest of the evening. Tessie and Perry did a great job. I always live going there for a good meal.

Someone suggested this as a good place to eat in Tobermory, but the western sandwich may be the worst I’ve ever had. It was just onion, pieces of ham, and egg on toasted white bread, with no obvious seasoning or anything else in it. The wait staff were pleasant enough. Reading the positive reviews afterward, I wish I’d ordered something different, or maybe hadn’t gone the day after a long weekend, when the kitchen might have been overtired.
